"The Absolution Lab", Butch Cordora's second solo show in as many years, offers 12 new prints on large format canvases. The stirring images range from privileged celebrities behaving badly, people on the fringe of society trying to redeem themselves and a few of Butch himself, serving as the litmus test on a Kinsey scale.
"It's good people doing bad things, bad people doing good things and how at the end of the day, all any of us are ever looking for is some sort of absolution that never seems to come". From JFK Jr's tragic plane wreck in 1999 to Paris Hilton's (alleged) arrest for cocaine possession on the Sunset Strip to a naked Sharon Tate and Roman Polanski, Butch dives into humanities common denominator; absolution.
Never one to shy away from controversy, Cordora also offers 2 (not so heavy) art instillations among the redemption seeking. One of which is a one-of-a-kind Vanity Fair magazine, 20 cover photo shoot, never before seen all in one space. The large scale instillation poses the question: What is more important? Fame, power, money or relevance?
